The birth of a first child is normally a time of joy and excitement for a young married couple, but for former dancer Laura (Elisabeth Shue) and her husband Steven (Steven MacIntosh), there is excitement but little joy. Laura does not make the transition to the suburbs easily, and seems to have some post partum psychological issues, with a not so charming baby, strange nanny shenanigans, and other ominous occurrences adding to her unhappiness. The supposedly desirable big house has its own secrets, and Laura must try to save her baby from the unfriendly entities while fighting her own isolation and depression. But there is always a question of how much of the trouble comes from the house, the baby or from Laura’s own mind as the psychological mysteries unfold.
