David Aames is a rich guy with all the trappings of a rich life. He's inherited his father's magazine empire and wakes up with a gorgeous woman, Julie, who obviously likes David more than he likes her. At his birthday, he meets Sofia, the date of his best friend, and spends the evening with her putting off his best friend and pissing off Julie. Julie confronts him after he spends a long night with Sofia and as they drive in Julie's car, she learns that her love for him is unrequited. She crashes her car killing herself and almost killing David. He survives but with gross facial disfiguration. Jump ahead months later to find David with a mask over his entire face in jail talking to a shrink to remember "what happened." What happened is that he gets better, gets the girl, but he starts to break apart thinking Sofia is Julie and in the end kills his girlfriend. What we learn at the end is that the entire part of him getting better is actually a dream he concocted to dream when he was deep frozen.

But the truth is something more sinister. Schreck reveals himself as a true vampire, centuries old. He proceeds to show the crew elements of his vampire nature, including drinking the blood of animals and a predilection for bats. Murnau is revealed to have made a deal with Max. In order to make his film as real as possible, Murnau promises the lead actress (Catherine McCormack) to Max as a prize. Schreck is impatient to claim his prize. When Max kills another actor, Murnau must get destroy Max yet still film the movie he truly wants.

The story begins in a high school and it goes around the basketball superstar of the high school, Berke Landers. Though Landers finds it very comfortable when it comes to basketball, he couldn't feel the same way when it comes to his girl friend, Allison. He finds himself being ignored by his girl friend and forced to jump to a conclusion that his affair with his girl is over. But, he decides to go for a last chance and approaches his friend, Felix, whose sister, Kelly, is brought into the frame to help Landers get back his lost love. With Kelly's help, Landers manages to go behind Allison and make his way into the school's spring musical. An affair begins to blossom between Landers and Kelly while Landers was trying to compensate for the damage caused by his ex. Thus, the story takes the form of a triangular love, involving Landers, Allison and Kelly. Ultimately, Landers gets over Allison and discovers within himself his love for Kelly.

He tries to get answers in several of his past girlfriends but he doesn't really get any clear answers and his ex girlfriends remember things much differently than he does. Rob seems to realize he may have been more at fault than he originally thought. He gets a little desperate and makes an emotional effort to win Laura back.
