Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) flies to Okinawa with his mentor, Mr. Kesuke Miyagi (Pat Morita). Miyagi has not been back in many years. He finds that his old sweetheart, Yukie (Nobu McCarthy) has been waiting for him to return for many years. His former best-friend turned romantic rival, Sato (Danny Kamekona), is now a rich man who pushes the people of Miyagi’s village around. He also still bears a grudge against Miyagi. Daniel falls for local girl, Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita). However, Sato’s son, Chozen (Yuji Okumoto), claims her for his own. The two romantic triangles set off challenges, to the death, in the name of honor.
